Predecessor

A predecessor is an entity with at least one outgoing edge. Although entities are not required to have any outgoing edges, every junctor must have at least one outgoing edge, so every junctor is also by definition a predecessor.

Indirect Predecessors

In the following illustration, A has three predecessors: B and C (its direct predecessors) and also D (an indirect predecessor.)
